We love all things 'handmade' and source many of our gifts from local British Independent Artists, Craftsmen and Manufacturers where possible.  We also endeavour to support Fair Trade and build relationships with suppliers who have strong social ethics.

ABIGAIL MILL (Fine Art Greeting Cards)

This stunning range of large artcards has been printed from embroideries by the extremely talented British textile artist, Abigail Mill. The whimsical and ethereal images were inspired by her local coastlines and landscapes in Norfolk and Suffolk and we love them as they are quintessentially English! The originals were made using layers of cotton, lace and organza, embellished with freehand machine embroidery... and a little magic!

ASPIGA (Clothing, Sandals, Belts, Kikoys & Bags)

Designed in the UK, but hand-made in Africa and India, the Aspiga collection includes stylish clothing and kikoys and beautiful leather beaded sandals, belts and bags. Aspiga works with small suppliers in Kenya and India, with small work forces creating much needed jobs for local men and women, as well as revenue for the local community. Using  traditional techniques of leather-making and beading, all of the stylish products are created by hand.

AZUNI LONDON (Jewellery)

“Inspiration can come from anywhere” – that is the mantra that inspires Azuni jewellery. Resisting the trend to have a trademark style, founder and designer Ashley Marshall gathers his inspiration from many different sources and interprets it into stunning, individual pieces of jewellery.  The influence of his travels in South America and Native American culture can be seen in his pieces. Combining his passions for tribal and ancient art with modern pop culture and fashion, Ashley’s concept of ‘Urban Tribes’ was born.

BELLE & BOO

Belle & Boo’s small team of incredibly talented people have created a timeless range of gifts for both parents and children to enjoy. Their products are made with love, care and attention using craftsmanship and quality materials that ensures the things they make are built to last.

My passion has always been to draw children and capture those moments of fun and freedom that are the foundation for a happy childhood. This passion became my everyday pastime after setting up Belle & Boo with my co-founders Kate and Patrick Shafe.

Gabrielle Parker began her career as a designer of clothing and accessories in 2001 from a tiny shop in Brighton's North Laines. She is now based in a small village in East Sussex where she designs a stunning collection of vintage inspired cotton clothing, loungewear, nightwear & accessories. Her fabulous dresses, skirts, harem pants, kimono's, purses & bags have been designed using her own floral printed softest cotton voile, lace and broderie anglaise.  Her designs are produced in Fair Trade in India by a family business with who she has been working closely for many years.

Hammamas are a 'Clever Cotton Towel' that can be used for almost anything.  Hammamas are hand weaved pure cotton towels based on cotton Turkish bath towels. Every item is cut by hand and every seam is brushed out by a dedicated finishing team so that each join is practically invisible.

Based in Brighton Founder & Designer Josh Hill was brought up surrounded by the world of handbag buying, design and retail.

 “I’ve always given my friends gifts from my parent’s shop and because of this developed an eye for what my friends want to wear and use. I now have the opportunity to create my idea of a great range of handbags.”

In the Summer of 2018 Hill + How, a new British brand launched in London with a capsule collection of 7 styles of quality leather handbags and purses each available in 7 colours.

The games are devised to be a tool for all ages and ranges to have fun together in the pursuit of knowledge and history.

They aim to provide entertainment and learning along with a little glue of competition to help all the facts and history stick.

HOUSE OF MARBLES (Books, Toys, Games)

House of Marbles produce a world famous range of glass marbles, board games, classic toys, puzzles, pastimes & decorative accessories for the home and garden. They have been designing, making and selling fun and entertaining products since 1973, when their founder began making board games in his workshop to sell at local craft fairs.

ICANDI ROCKS

This fabulous new and exclusive jewellery range from Barbados screams global cool but with a warm island soul. The pieces combine delicate metals with the most beautiful semi-precious stones, crystals and freshwater pearls.

The entire collection is designed to be layered and collected. Whether worn as standalone pieces or layered together each piece of jewellery is truly unique and beautiful. 

The designer, Claire Howton, is of British and Barbadian descents, with a strong background in craft studying design at Art College in London. Since then, Claire’s designer eye has overseen the creation of ICandi’s flagship boutique, now situated in Holetown, St James, on the platinum West Coast of Barbados. The fine detailed jewellery creates a delicate feminine touch.  

Recently, ICANDI Rocks has flown the shores of its island home and taken up residence within the renowned and prestigious walls of the Henri Bendel luxury department store on New York’s 5th Avenue – much to the delight of Henri’s sophisticated and metropolitan clientele.

JAMES BARTHOLOMEW (Fine Art Greeting Cards)

Commissioned by the Sunday Times, the BBC and the British Tourist Authority, James Bartholomew’s Seascape and Landscape paintings have collected several notable awards.

Inspired by the coastline, James regularly travels around the British Isles; particularly Cornwall, Pembrokeshire and the Scottish islands. He has also completed considerable bodies of work in France, Tuscany, Venice and New York.

In addition, James’s increasingly collectable animal paintings have created another aspect to his output, and now appear in many corporate as well as private collections.

A member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) and The Manchester Academy of Fine Art (MAFA), when not on location, James works full time from his studio at the Mill House Gallery.

We think that he is a truly talented artist! 

JANE LAMPARD (Fine Art Greeting Cards)

Jane Lampard, a landscape artist based in Gloucestershire, works in oils and pastels and uses subtle tones of colour to build up depth and atmosphere in her work. She employs an instinctively sensitive approach and works directly from life whenever possible, drawing inspiration from the fleeting effects of the changing seasons, the weather and the light.   

She says of her work: “There is so much that I want to record in the beauty of our landscape. I am particularly interested in the small farms which surround my home in south Gloucestershire perhaps because I feel their traditional way of life is threatened”.

Jane also travels to Cornwall, the south of France, Tuscany and Venice to paint. She has exhibited paintings at the Pastel Society, the Society of Women Artists, and the Royal West of England Academy, as well as several leading provincial galleries. She is a member of the Dobunni Painters, a group of professional artists who paint in the Cotswolds.

In June 2010 Jane won the John Singer Sargent Award at the inaugural Broadway Arts Festival.

JASMINE WHITE LONDON (Enamel Tableware, Decorative Accessories)

Jasmine White London, founder, Supriya Broadbent makes beautiful hand painted enamel kitchenware (mugs, tumblers, trays, tea caddies, bowls, jugs), textiles (aprons, double oven gloves, oven mitts, tea towels, cushions), papier mache boxes and decorations.  Without any formal design training, Supriya has managed to harness her creativity and fond memories of growing up in India to develop designs which capture the vibrancy of this country.  Combined with inspiration from her everyday life in England, Supriya’s work represents the mix of two countries dear to her heart.  The Jasmine White London collections feature scenes from the chaotic streets of India, to floral displays, starry nights and birds of paradise.  These adorable home accessories make perfect kitchen gifts and homeware gifts. 

JENNY MAIZELS

Jennie was born in London in 1970 to a pair of groovy hippies. Jennie went to Central St. Martins School of Art to study Illustration. Her graduation show included a life-sized replica of Alice in Wonderland’s Mad Hatter's Tea Party, made out of Paper Mache! Jennie was the first person to introduce decorative, iron-on patches for children and is a well known Children's book illustrator who worked with Katy Petty on a popular pop-up series, the first being The Great Grammar Book which was nominated for Children’s book of the year. Her wide range of decorative patches allows you to customise your clothes with ease, making each item unique and individual!

Jennie and Kate became inseparable, working on eight books together over Sixteen years. The books they have produced have sold over a million copies worldwide. "The Great Grammar Book" was nominated for Children's Book of the Year 1999 and "The Global Garden" was winner of the Aventis Prize 2006.

JO EDWARDS (Scarves)

London entrepreneuse Jo Edwards (known to friends as Jojo) brilliantly fuses the styles and tastes of the East and West. Taking the traditional vibrancy of places like Rajasthan and tailoring them to European fashion, Jojo's exceptional colour palette makes her designs stand out in terms of quality, style and affordability.

JONNY KIMBER (Cotton Printed Scarves)

Jonny Kimber's beautiful and timeless scarves are 100% cotton and come in range of fabulous colours and prints. They are designed by Jonny in the UK and screen-printed in India and are a must have for everyone's summer wardrobe.

LAIDBACK LONDON

Stylish, practical & Comfortable, Laidback London offers a fabulous selection of handmade leather Sandals, Flipflops & Bags that have been inspired by colourful cultures & handcrafted by skilled African artisans.

The company was born out of a desire to go back to basics. To make products the old fashioned way - by hand, using traditional techniques. To work with the imperfections to create naturally unique and individual products. Timeless pieces that are made to last, that wear better with age. 

Having moved to London in 1997, the label’s founder wanted to bring back a part of the laid-back lifestyle he had experienced growing up on the coastal town of Mombasa to the big city. The first pair of sandals were sold from a market stall on Portobello Road in the summer of 2002.

Laidback London has established an infrastructure that creates jobs, provides sustainable incomes for the workers and preserves their skills and craftsmanship. The work they do has a positive social and economic impact- empowering local communities,  giving hope and providing opportunities through education for future generations.

Keeping the processes hand made has enabled the company to build the work force and create maximum employment. The leather, which is sourced from a local, family owned tannery in Africa is hand dyed and sundried before being cut by hand. The sandal uppers are then hand embellished with tiny colourful beads using a technique that symbolises the traditions of the various local tribes. LANCASTER & GIBBINGS

Jim Lancaster is the designer and owner of Lancaster and Gibbings. Jim works with a small team of skilled people who support him with the production of each pewter piece. The aim has always been to produce work that is distinctive and contemporary, with its own individual style. They want all that they produce to stand the test of time, both in terms of design and quality of manufacture.

Since starting out at a craft market in Greenwich, Lancaster & Gibbings has developed its reputation of producing distinctive pewter giftware, selling to stores in Europe, Japan and America. In the UK to retailers such as John Lewis, Selfridges, Liberty, The Conran Shop, National Trust, and Highgrove; as well as to some of the UK’s leading independent retailers.

Through these changes the original vision has always remained. 'To make pewter gifts that represent the finest in British design, to remain passionate about design and quality, and strive to maintain only the highest standards in everything we do. Our continued commitment is to produce items that have that distinctive, very English, "Lancaster & Gibbings" look'.

MARGOT STEEL DESIGNS (Lap Trays)

In 1991 Margot Steel saw a gap in the market and decided to fill it.  It was a simple idea that was to achieve worldwide success. She produced the lap tray – a unique concept which provided a flat surface from which you could eat, use a laptop or ipad, read a book, write a letter, etc. The lap tray sits securely on your lap thanks to it’s non-slip beanbag base that moulds to your shape. Over two decades later Margot Steel Designs is still creating high quality lap trays produced in Scotland.

Margot’s emphasis on quality and design have led to many awards over the years including runner up “Scottish Gift Of The Year”, Best Gift at an international trade fair in Paris and most recently Margot was awarded a “European Woman of Achievement” award.

We are delighted to be stocking them as we think that they are an ideal gift (everyone should own one!) and by far the best quality lap trays that we have found.

Milly Green is an exciting UK designer who combines her artistic background with her interior design experience to create a portfolio of designs in her distinctive style. 

She and her team are passionate about introducing a fresh and contemporary take on classic themes with a particular emphasis on colour. Milly regularly works with some of the best-known UK retailers to produce inspirational new ranges as well as on bespoke commissions for other popular brands.  She supplies to many shops and visitor attractions throughout the UK and overseas.

She has a number of collections including; Ditsy Floral, Feathers, Eggs, Horses, Dogs and the iconic Celebrating Britain range.  She has recently launched the Brilliantly British range which is also available as bags and accessories, gift stationery, gift food and fine bone china.

MIRABELLE JEWELLERY (Jewellery)

The trendy chic hand made Mirabelle Jewellery collection is one of eclecticism, intrigue and soul.  Designer, Veronique Henry has traveled extensively throughout her life, gaining a unique perspective in creating and sourcing jewellery. The daughter of a Parisian silversmith, Véronique's passion for South East Asia is translated in the intricacy and vibrant colour combinations of her designs, fusing ethnic and contemporary aesthetics.

With a strong belief in the power of jewellery to uplift the spirits, collections are imbued with symbolism and meaning, from crystal stones to ancient talismans. Most of Mirabelle jewellery is produced by fair trade suppliers using sterling silver, 22k gold plated metals, brass, semi precious stones, carved mother of pearl, wood, and shells from trusted sources. Powell Craft Ltd, a British family-run business, produce a fabulous range of quality wooden toys, decorative homewares, scented gifts and beautifully hand-finished cotton nightwear. They have recently launched of a wide selection of childrenswear, babywear, nursery accessories and a hugely popular range of gorgeous rag dolls.

Powell Craft support various charities notably “Mobile Creches” in India and “Chestnut Tree House”, a children's hospice in Sussex. Thanks to continued support from their suppliers they have managed to donate over £100,000 to date.

PRANELLA, is a British Jewellery and Accessories brand created by the mother-daughter duo, Alex and Charlotte Prenelle.

The label was founded in 2007 with the aim to provide fashion accessories of pure beauty and elegance at an affordable price-point, its products to be adorned and loved by women of any age.

The ethos of the brand is to develop a unique collection of Jewellery and Accessories by using carefully selected, globally sourced materials all hand picked by our design team and in-house stylists. Design aspects focus on semi precious and natural stones, creatively blended combinations, a note to colours and detail, always with a fashion forward style.

Their new range of stylish scarves is inspired by the vibrant colours of Asian dressing, Mediterranean beach life with sun bleached hues and natural fibres.

RICE DK (Home)

RICE is a Danish home wares and accessories company, known for its colourful melamine, handmade baskets and storage, and hand glazed Italian tableware.  Their homely objects are down to earth, funky, fun and functional with a big emphasis on colour, imagination and playful design.  With a big heart and strong social ethics, RICE support Global Compact, and are the first Scandinavian company certified by the SA8000 standard, based on their projects with suppliers around the world.

SEVENSEVENTEEN (Scented Candles & Diffusers)

Featured in The Guardian, Independent and Glamour magazine, SevenSeventeen candles have been complemented for their 'great throw and lovely scents' and for being 'simple in design, beautiful in quality’.

SevenSeventeen candles are hand poured in England and the fine quality oils and natural wax burns cleanly and throws the scent. They have super burn times (up to 70 hours for the triple wick candle!) and they are proud to donate £1 from each candle sold to some brilliant mental health charities.

Zhambala Arts specialise in importing, finest quality hand made products from predominantly Thailand. They are operate a fair trade olicy, and are accredited by BAFTS (British Association of Fair Trade Shops).
Most of the range is handcrafted in traditional ways by villagers mainly from central or northern Thailand. Their products use natural materials and are processed and assembled entirely by hand. They are, with the exception of electrical wiring where relevant, sourced from the craftspeople themselves. Their products comprise only sustainable and widely available woods [mango, bamboo, palm amongst others] thus avoiding harm to the local environment.
The flower lighting is made from real skeletonised leaves, flowers and plant materials, and also the leaves of the Bodhi Tree (Banyan tree), rubber tree leaves, okra plants and the cocoons of silk worms.
